My tattoo

Last night I went and got my tattoo. The above image the the layout I used. I got it done on my spine. Well, it's almost at my neck, but just below the collar. The guy that did my tattoo was really great. He was chatty, and we both love the tv show Miami Ink. But I kept feeling like he couldn't hear me over the tattoo gun, but he seemed to, as he kept chatting. Lucky my partner was there to help with the chatting.

Even though this is my 4th tattoo, I was still nervous. It's been almost 3 years since I had my last tattoo, and I couldn't quite remember how it felt. But once he started it, I was like "yep, I remember." There were a few sore spots, and my partner could see my cringing. There were times where the tattoo artist would do a long line, and by the end of the line, I was like "arrrg." The pain doesn't make you cry, it just, well, HURTS..lol.

I don't remember how I washed the tattoos previously. I was reading the manual, they gave, and they advised not to use bar soap or anti-bacterial soap. The said to use this cleansing foam that they had at the store. But the tattoo guy didn't give me any, and didn't make it seem like I needed it. I did use plain soap, but not a lot. I figured that I can't not wash it. But I'm gentle with it. They did give me some tattoo cream to keep on it after it's been washed, but I hope I'm doing the right thing..lol. The guy said that in a few weeks, if there are some spots that need to be touched up, I can go in. So we'll see how it heals. When it does heal, I'll post another pic.

I've always used unscented anti-bacterial soap on my tattoos. But you don't REALLY wash them, you blot them, if you wash them they run or you risk pulling out the ink.

Lots of those manuals want you to buy the bloated in price cleansing products the shops sell so they can get more money, but pretty much every tattoo person suggested unscented anti-bacterial soap. Easy to buy.

Oh, and unscented lotion to keep it from crusting over, apply about 4 to 6 times a day.

Thanks for the information Rip. I was told not to use anti-bacterial soap, because the soap can kill "good bacteria." But I guess if you've used it and your tattoos turned out fine, why not. I have just unscented plain ol' bar soap. And I don't really "wash it" but I do put I guess sort of rub the soap. But I will remind myself NOT to do that. If the ink does fade I will be able to get a touch up. Since it's hard for me to see, I'll have my partner look at it..lol.

The tattoo cream I got, I got for free, so that was alright. But yeh, I've used luberiderm (spelling) before, and it was fine.
